Arthur Abraham

Bio

"King" Arthur Abraham is a warrior in the most classical sense. Perhaps known most for his 2006 fight against Edison Miranda, Abraham fought the majority of rounds with his jaw broken in two places. He won a unanimous decision in a bloody slugfest that night, and later needed two titanium plates and 22 surgically implanted screws to repair his face.

He was born in Armenia but moved to Germany when he was 14. It was in Germany that he picked up an unlikely hobby, bicycling. His love for cycling led him to the South German Championships twice, but Abraham gave up cycling at the age of 18 to pursue a career in boxing.

He turned pro in 2003 and won the IBF middleweight world championship soon after with a stunning TKO victory over Kingsley Ikeke (2005). Abraham has shown tremendous versatility in the ring, good defense and movement, and impressive punching power. The only question is if his devastating power will translate to the 168-lbs division.

In His Own Words

"There are no weak opponents in this tournament. It is the best against the best. For me, it is like a dream come true to participate. After the Super Six, I want to be known all over the world. I want to please the fans not just in Germany but in America and I am sure my fights will be fun to watch."

What's In it for Abraham

The defining fight of Abraham's career—a showdown with middleweight titlist Kelly Pavlik—never materialized. As a result, Abraham has secured star status only in Europe. The Super Six is his opportunity to establish worldwide acclaim, his dominance in a second weight class and a place among the greats in boxing's recent history.
